Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson who were both lawyers. When she moved to Oxfordshire when she was five, Emma attended The Dragon School. At the age of six, Emma was aware that she wanted to become an actress. Over some time she attended the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre academy where she studied singing dancing and acting. When she was 10, Emma had taken part in multiple Stagecoach productions and school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone The 2001 film remake from J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was filmed in 1999. Emma was identified by casting agents thanks to Emma's Oxford theater teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone and Ron Weasley told Emma after seven auditions that she'd been chosen for these roles. Emma was chosen to play alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's first appearance in a film was in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. It was also the biggest and most profitable film in the year 2001. The opening weekend and day the sales were unbeatable. Many critics have praised the film and performances of its three major young actors. The Daily Telegraph, a frequently read British publication, gave Emma high marks for her impressive performance. Emma took home the Young Artist Award as the Most Outstanding Young Actress in an Feature Film. She was later nominated for five awards for her performance in the film.
